Nervous is one thing KD Young Cocky hasn’t felt lately
Nervous might be the current title of Chicago artist, singer, rapper and songwriter KD Young Cocky, but that’s not quite how he’s a feeling lately.
Even with the anticipation of his mixtape “Take a Hit” releasing Friday, he still enjoying all of life’s finer things. If you watch his Snapchat (KDYoungCocky) he lives like your favorite rapper without a Care in the world.
Since Chicago is currently taking over the music game, he teamed up with fellow Chicago rapper GHerbo for his single “Nervous”. Produced by Plug, the mid tempo, sinister intro sets the tone for the song, with KD rapping; which is not his usual approach.
With a simple hook, “Gang make these niggas nervous” ,KD and Gherbo rap about being “real ones” and cream of the crop in their own lane.
Describing himself as “slept on”, KD’s swag and subtle metaphors over the beat compliments Gherbo’s distinctive flow and lyrics. After listening to “Nervous” any artist should feel pressured to step their game up.
I spoke with KD for a brief moment to find out what he wanted to be known about his latest project. He had this to say,
“I just want them know I’m here to change the way they look at Chicago, there is real talent and real positive people out here. I wanna unify and provide for our community, I’m from poverty, I know what it feels like to struggle. I want to help those that don’t have fathers, I wanna provide change. I influence that through my music and speak the truth cause at this point it’s much bigger then music it’s time to show and prove.”
Change is ALWAYS a great thing and I’m definitely here for a positive one. I’ll have the mixtape posted on Friday, until then check out “Nervous” below!
